The visit to the city will also include the old American Legation in Tangier which was the first US national building in a foreign country. Now it is a lively center that is renamed to be Tangier American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies.
Finally, we will drive you to your accommodation to rest, have dinner and spend this night in Tangier.
In the morning, we will leave Tangier and make our way towards the blue city of Chefchaouen via Tetouan city and the Rif Mountains.
Departing Tangier, we will hit the road to reach Tetouan. Called the White Dove, this city is situated at the foot of the Rif Mountains and is famous for its white buildings. After a quick stop in Tetouan, we continue the way through the majestic Rif Mountains and the green fields next to the road until getting to Chefchaouen.
After a tasty lunch in Chefchaouen, we will visit the city’s most famous Kasbah which is usually known as the ethnographic museum. It is where you can learn more about the area’s traditions and history from the different items exhibited in the museum.
We will also wander the blue alleys of the city, up and down, because of its mountainous character to see the charming houses with beautiful doors and decorated windows.
Moreover, a tour of the city cannot accomplish without a visit to the city’s main square Outa elHammam. It is a favorite place for tourists, with its cafes and restaurants shaded by trees, facing the Great Mosque. This gives a comfortable feeling for those wishing to enjoy the features of the city while having cups of mint tea.
In the evening, we will head off to the Spanish Mosque on top of a hill overlooking the city of Chefchaouen. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the whole city while watching the sunset. After that, we drive back to your accommodation to spend the night in Chefchaouen.
In the morning, we will leave Chefchaouen and drive through the Rif mountains making our way to Fes. Before that, we will stop at Volubilis. Classified within the UNESCO World Heritage and archaeological sites list, the old city is home to one of the best Moroccan well-preserved Roman ruins.
You can wander through the old city and discover the remains of roman ruins such as Latin writings and illustrations connecting authentic Roman cultures, many old mosaic paintings that give the place a luxurious artistic character, and steam baths distributed in the place.
After that, we drive for only 29km to reach the imperial city of Meknes. Founded by Sultan Moulay Ismail, the city is surrounded by massive walls and fortifications. It is also famous for its great gates such as the city’s emblem Bab Mansour Gate which is the main entrance to the medina and the gate of Bab Lekhmis.
The main square of Meknes and the gathering place of the city is Lehdim Square located opposite Bab Mansour gate. Musicians, snake charmers, monkey trainers, street vendors, and storytellers settle in the square to present their shows.
The mausoleum of the city founder is situated behind the gate next to the Qubbat al-Khayyatine. It is a standalone building where the Sultan used to meet foreign ambassadors to negotiate different themes. Under the building, there is a puzzle of endless big arches used by the Sultan as a prison.
Next, we will visit the Royal Stables to see the granaries and the Sahrij es-Souani which is a big lake offering a nice walk around the lake. In the evening, we will leave Meknes and drive towards Fes where we drop you at your accommodation to spend the night in this city.
Founded in the 8th century AD, Fes is Morocco’s oldest city and a major center of Islamic culture that has not changed much in centuries. The biggest attraction of Fes is its own medina, which is a medieval city market, divided into quarters of artisans – tanners, jewelers, carpenters, and potters.
Our visit to Fes offers great chances to discover the hidden secrets of the city and gain deeper sight into its culture. In the labyrinths of Fes, you can find real treasures.
For example, Madrassa Al-Attarine, with the finest stone carvings and complex ornaments causes real delight. Also, the Royal Palace in Fez (Dar el Mahzen) covers an area of about 80 hectares of land and includes mosques, beautiful gardens, ancient madrassas, and Koranic studies schools dating back to the 14th century.
The palace is famous for its golden doors, beautifully painted ceilings, and intricate mosaic works. Inside are priceless historical artifacts from all over Morocco, including carpets, pottery, silk fabrics, firearms, and ancient manuscripts.
Among the outstanding examples of world architecture is the Madrassa of Bou-Inania which is a beautiful building; the entrance doors are decorated with bronze, the dome is carved out of wood, the staircase is made of Zellige and onyx, everywhere graceful Arabic arabesques. The facade of the building is decorated with unique ancient water clocks of the 14th century, arranged according to a complex system.
The courtyard of the Madrassa is also decorated with marble, valuable wood, and onyx. Another iconic attraction of Fez and all of Morocco is the Chouara Tanneries. Here the skin is painted according to ancient technology, adjusted for centuries.
First, the fur is removed from the skin, then they are soaked with citric acid and in pigeon or chicken droppings (to become softer), and then in the right paint. In addition to that, Al Qaraouiyyine mosque or university is the oldest current educational institution in the world!
Many people gained knowledge here, which subsequently had a great influence on science and culture in the Islamic world. The university was founded in 859 first as a mosque, and later became a cultural and scientific center.
To end the tour perfectly, we have to head off to Borj Nord to have a panoramic view of Fes and visit the museum there which exhibits some of the city’s best traditional collections and old weapons. Accommodation in the hotel.
In the morning, we will depart Fes city and make our way toward the sand dunes of Erg-Chebbi in Merzouga. The road to the desert is full of interesting stops where you can see totally different regions of Morocco as well as the gradual transition from the green forests of the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas Mountains into the red-dried lands of the desert.
The first stop would be Ifrane city. Unlike any other city in Morocco, this city holds an alpine style of architecture which made it often called the “Switzerland of Morocco”. After a photograph next to the sculptured lion statue in the city, we carry on the way to Azrou town.
Azrou is home to the country’s largest forest where the Barbary apes alongside different animals find their shelter between the cedar trees. Our stop will be in the heart of the cedar forest to catch a better view of the jungle and the monkeys playing around.
During lunchtime, we will leave the Middle Atlas and stop at Midelt city to relax and have lunch. The city is famous for its production and distribution of apple fruit as well as the mines its soil holds.

Our stop in this place will include a session with nomads living here in their nomadic tents. After that, we will take an off-road via the desert valley to reach a mountain, which we are climbing to catch the amazing panoramic view it offers.
It is also from where we will be able to clearly see the grand dune of Erg-Chebbi and all the desert parts, in addition to the camps distributed on the edges of the dunes. Afterward, we descend the mountain and make our way to M’s.
This area is home to an abandoned French village which was a French army territory during the colonization in the area. The area is also home to old exploited mines.
Next, we will return to the main way and stop for a break in Khamlia village. This small village is an interesting stop; the ancestors of the inhabitants were originally from the Sub-Saharan countries and settled here and in many different parts of Morocco.
Today, the inhabitants serve their ancestors’ legacy presented in Gnaoua music. We will have a seat with them listening to this type of music accompanied by a cup of tea.
After lunch, we will drive back to the hotel where you should rest and get prepared for the evening interesting experience. Once ready, you will be transported to the edges of the dunes where your camels are waiting for you to ride them straight to the camp.
Through the sand dunes of the desert, you will enjoy the magnificent views especially when you stop above a high dune to enjoy the spectacular desert sunset.
Upon arrival at the camp, the hosts will cheerfully welcome you and serve you dinner followed by drums music to help you repose and make your stay at the camp unforgettable. The night is spent in your well-organized tent under the sparkling sky of the Sahara Desert.
In the morning, you must not miss the chance to attend a magical desert sunrise in a quiet desert atmosphere. The first stop of today’s journey will be Rissani town which is not too far from the desert. In this city, we will walk through its huge market and see the different types of Moroccan flavors.
The town has a significant history as it was one day a coinage center that made a vital road for trading caravans. Also, the town was the native land of the Alaouite dynasty which is still ruling the kingdom.
After a photograph of the great gate of the town, we will continue our way to Tinghir city. Through the Berber villages and the green valley of Tinghir, we will reach the city and continue to Todra Gorges.
The gorge is famous for its canyon which offers visitors great opportunities to see amazing views of the narrow canyon, massive high walls, and a stream. It is also an appropriate place for hiking and climbing.
You will have enough time to share the roads with the locals as you wander through the gorge. Do not miss the chance to take some memorable photographs. Afterward, we will continue our way toward Dades Valley.
On the way, we will stop twice. Firstly, we will stop at the “monkey toes”. It is a geological formation on the mountain resembling the monkey toes for which it is named.
Secondly, we will drive through Tisdrine zigzag way and stop to panoramically see the valley. Finally, we will continue through the valley and drop you at your hotel to spend the night.
On the eighth day of the trip, we will head off to Marrakech and pass through amazing stations such as the magnificent Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou.
Departing Dades Valley, we will drive to the Valley of Roses which is also named the pink valley for the Damask Rose that grows here in the area and its use by the local cooperatives in producing plenty of products like cosmetics.
Through the palm grove of Skoura, we will stop at a wonderful Kasbah known as Amridil Kasbah. It is famous for the Nassiri family which owns the Kasbah and still lives in a part of it, but the other part is a living museum.
Upon arrival to Ouarzazate, we will visit the Taourirt Kasbah to see its unique architecture and collect more information about films that were filmed in the Kasbah such as Gladiator.
The city is home to actors when they are working here, as well as it is beloved by filmmakers who find it a suitable environment for their cinematography works. For this reason, we will visit the Film Studios to gain deeper sight into the different movies and TV series filmed here.
For example, Prison Break, Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven, Game of Thrones, and Vikings along with others ones were all filmed in Ouarzazate’s environment including Taourirt Kasbah and Ait Benhaddou Kasbah.
Next, we will head off to the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. The man-made fortified ksar or kasbah was built to protect the caravans passing from the area, giving exhausted travelers rest and lodging, providing experienced guides, and replenishing the empty supplies of food and water.
You can stroll through the building and discover the rooms that have resisted through history to be historical Kasbah. Finally, end your tour in the Kasbah with a panoramic view of a hill over the entire area.
Eventually, we will drive through the High Atlas Mountains in a picturesque way with an interesting stop above the Tizi N’Tishka mountain pass 2260m to catch a panoramic view over the mountains and the road crossing them.
In the evening, we would reach Marrakech and we’ll drop you off at your accommodation.
Today, will be devoted to exploring the red city of Marrakech. Our visit to this city covers a lot of historical, religious, cultural, and entertaining sites.
The first building on the list is Bahia Palace. Built by Ahmed ben Moussa, the palace has a very big history; to this day it did not reach its original form. Now it leads those who want to admire the chic design of walls, ceilings, carved doors, and marble fountains.
After amazing shots in the palace, we will visit the Saadian Tombs. After the end of the Saadi dynasty, the mausoleum complex was abandoned, built up, and not visited. It was reopened in 1917 and restored.
Because of its rich interior and exterior decoration, the tomb has become one of the main attractions for tourists in Marrakech. Also, we visit the gardens of Majorelle. The house is painted strictly blue, which looks extremely advantageous against the background of nondescript adobe walls.
Especially Majorelle is beautiful in winter when its walls acquire the same color as the sky over Morocco. The owner of the house was the French artist Jacques Majorelle.
Menara Gardens are another garden in Marrakech, but older and holds some history. It is a quiet olive grove around a large artificial lake. This cozy garden was broken up in the 13th century, a little later there was a lake, and in 1870 near the reservoir built a gazebo with a pointed pyramid roof.
Afterward, we will transfer to the city’s heart where people gather in the evening to enjoy the square shows. Jemaa el-Fna square is a market, a circus, a zoo, a music scene, and the largest restaurant in the world.
Life here is teeming and thriving. In the old days, the square was a “frontal place” – here exhibited severed heads of robbers, murderers, and thieves. Then the area was increased in size with the aim of building a large mosque. But construction never began.
Since then, the area has slowly turned into a natural trading zone. Today, the square is protected by UNESCO as an intangible spiritual heritage of mankind. Jema al-Fna is a unique place where you can still experience the atmosphere that has survived since the Middle Ages.
Finally, you can escape the square and sit on the terrace of a cafe or a restaurant and enjoy the shows from above.
Today, you will have a free morning in Marrakech. Then, a driver from Marrakech Morocco Trips will transfer you to the airport depending on your flight back home.
