Day 1: Fes » Azrou (Cedar Forest) » Midelt » Erfoud » Merzouga
Start your 3-day Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour by driving south to Ifrane and Azrou through the Middle Atlas mountains. Stop at the cedar forests to see the Barbarian Apes in their natural habitat. Travel through the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt and along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock. Enjoy views of the Middle-Atlas plateau and the changing scenery as you approach Errachidia.
After lunch, continue through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga. Upon arrival, enjoy a glass of mint tea and prepare for a camel ride to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi Sand Dunes, the highest in North Africa. The camel trek takes about 1h 30 min. Spend the night in well-equipped Berber tents with mattresses, blankets, and cushions. After dinner, gather around the fire and enjoy traditional Berber drums under the stars.
Day 2: Merzouga » Todra Gorges » Dades Gorges
Wake up early to see an amazing sunrise over the sea of dunes. After breakfast and a hot shower in the camp, return to Merzouga by camels or 4WD. Leave the Sahara desert towards Tinghir, a beautiful Berber village with palm trees and colorful houses. Visit the Todra Gorges, formed by rock walls over 200m high. Continue to the Dades Valley, a Berber village famous for its high gorges and views over the Atlas. Spend the night in a charming riad.
Day 3: Dades » Ouarzazate » Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah » Marrakech
Cross the Valley of the Dades and the Valley of the Roses to Ouarzazate, where you will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt. Continue to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and filming location for movies like “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Babel.” Follow the road through the Tizi N-Tichka pass and the beautiful landscapes of the High Atlas mountains, arriving in Marrakech, the “Red City.” Conclude your tour in Marrakech.
