Day 1: Marrakech » Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate » Dades Valley
Your 3-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour begins with a scenic drive over the Atlas Mountain range, descending into the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This UNESCO World Heritage site has served as a set for numerous Hollywood blockbusters, such as “Lawrence of Arabia,” “The Jewel of the Nile,” “Gladiator,” and “Game of Thrones.” After a sightseeing tour and lunch at the Kasbah, continue to Ouarzazate, known as “The Gateway to the Desert.” Admire the scenery and visit the Kasbah Taourirt. Drive to Boumalne Dades via the Valley of the Roses for dinner and an overnight stay in a traditional riad.
Day 2: Dades » Todra Gorges » Erfoud » Merzouga (Night in Desert Camp)
After breakfast, travel from Dades Gorges to the Erg Chebbi Sahara desert in Merzouga. Pass through Berber villages, Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud, feeling the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet. In Merzouga, your guide and camels will be waiting to carry you across the high sand dunes of the Morocco Sahara Desert. Enjoy a camel ride at sunset and reach the nomad desert camp in Erg Chebbi. Spend the night under a nomad tent with a traditional Berber dinner and music.
Day 3: Merzouga Desert » Ziz Valley » Midelt » Ifrane » Fes
Wake up early to witness the beautiful sunrise from the top of the dunes of Erg Chebbi. After breakfast and a shower at the camp, ride the camels back to the original point or transfer by 4WD. Travel to Fes through the Ziz Valley, Midelt, and Ifrane, known as the little Switzerland of Morocco. Visit the famed Middle Atlas cedar forest with its Barbary apes in Azrou. Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon and drop off at your riad or hotel with unforgettable memories.
