Day 1: Marrakech » Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate » Dades Valley
Your 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech. Travel over the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi N’tichka pass (2260 m high). Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a famous historic building in Morocco. Stop for lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, drive to Ouarzazate and stop near the Atlas film studios for a photograph. Continue to the town center for a picturesque view of the Kasbah of Taourirt. Head to Kalaa M’gouna and Boumalne Dades for dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 2: Dades » Todra Gorges » Erfoud » Erg Chebbi (Merzouga)
After breakfast, drive towards Tinghir, passing through Boumalne du Dades and stopping for a panoramic view of Dades Valley. Continue to Todra Gorges via Imider and Tinghir, with several stops for photos and admiring the views. Arrive in Todra Gorges to enjoy its spectacular canyon landscapes. In the afternoon, continue to Tinjdad for lunch, then to Erfoud, known for its fossil manufacturers. Arrive at the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi (Merzouga Dunes) and get ready for a camel trek to enjoy the sunset. Spend the night in a traditional nomad tent with a delicious dinner and entertainment around the fire (Berber drums).
Day 3: Merzouga Desert » Nomad Families » Erg Chebbi
Wake up early to witness a stunning sunrise in the Sahara desert. After breakfast and a shower, take the camels back to Merzouga. Explore the Erg Chebbi and its tiny villages, including the Big Dune of Morocco. Visit Kamilia Village, known for its Gnawa music, and Mefis, an abandoned village with lead mines from the French colonial era. Meet a nomad family living in tents and learn about their lifestyle. Transfer to your accommodation and enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore the town or the dunes. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Merzouga » Ziz Valley » Azrou Cedar Forest & Barbary Apes » Fes
After breakfast, start the journey north through the Tafilalet palm grove, the largest in the country. See thousands of palm trees along the 20 km of road. Stop at the Ziz Valley for a majestic view of the valley and Aoufous town. Continue to Midelt for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, drive through the Cedar Forest of Azrou and see Barbary Apes. Visit Ifrane, known as “the Moroccan Switzerland,” with its clean streets, gardens, and architecture. Arrive in Fes around 6 pm and transfer to your accommodation, concluding the 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes.
