Day 2: Explore Merzouga Region » Nomads » Khamlia Village » Merzouga Lake » Erg Chebbi » Palm Grove
After breakfast, dedicate the day to exploring the Merzouga region. Visit incredible sites such as sand dunes, a wild lake, mines, fossil areas, and fabulous oases. Start by driving off-road to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. Then, visit nomads in their handmade woven tents and learn about their lifestyle while enjoying Berber tea. Next, head to Khamlia village to enjoy Gnaoua music and dancing performances. The inhabitants of Khamlia originate from sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After lunch in a restaurant, take a stroll in the palm tree grove and visit the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as Flamingos Lake.
In the afternoon, switch to camels and cross the sandy desert, stopping on top of a high dune to enjoy the sunset. Continue to the luxury camp, where you can enjoy Berber drums music and dance around the campfire under the vast open sky of stars. Dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Day 3: Merzouga Sahara » Rissani » Erfoud » Todra Gorges » Dades Valley
After breakfast, leave the desert to visit Rissani town, the ancient capital of Tafilalet and a major trading center in the region. After a stroll in Rissani Souk, continue to Erfoud and visit one of the workshops of fossilized marble. Drive through Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves to reach the Todra Gorges. The Todra river has carved out a grand canyon through the mountains, creating high red cliff-sided canyons. These gorges are ideal for rock climbers. Wander in the gorges and appreciate the beauty of the landscape. After lunch in a restaurant, continue to the Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades. Stop at the “monkey fingers” rock formation and a spot atop a mountain overlooking the Dades Valley. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 4: Dades Valley » Roses Valley » Palm Groves of Skoura » Ouarzazate » Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah » High Atlas Mountains » Marrakesh
On the final day, visit the Rose Valley in Kalaa Magouna, where a Rose Festival is held annually in May. The locals offer rose products, including perfumes, rose water, oil, and cosmetic products. Drive through the palm groves of Skoura and reach Ouarzazate, known as the gate of the desert. Visit the studios where famous movies were shot.
Depart to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah has appeared in many movies, including “Gladiator,” “Alexander,” and “The Mummy,” as well as TV series like “Game of Thrones.” Continue to Marrakesh, driving through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the spectacular High Atlas Mountains. Make stops for lunch and to take pictures at interesting spots. Finally, reach Marrakesh and drop off at the airport or your accommodation, concluding your tour.
